the DEWCOM Covenant
As the members of DEWCOM:
We covenant to respect one another’s integrity. We believe that each person in the committee is seeking to be faithful to Christ in our expressions of theology and living.
We covenant to celebrate our diversity. Our differences in tradition, identity, race, culture, gender, sexuality, age, spirituality and theology are a gift to each other, to the Church and to the world.
We covenant to debate in order to learn and to grow. We will abstain from arguing in order to win.
We covenant to give ourselves to the process of listening, thinking, engaging and consensus building.
We covenant to speak and act in love, demonstrating to each other a generosity of thought and spirit.
We covenant to resist allowing debates and disagreements in theology to devolve into personal judgements and attacks.
